1:1: O Blessed is the man that goeth not in the counsel of the ungodly: that abideth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of the scornful.
1:2: But delighteth in the law of the LORD, and exerciseth himself in his law, both day and night.
1:3: Such a man is like a tree planted by the water side, that bringeth forth his fruit in due season. His leaves shall not fall off, and look whatsoever he doth, it shall prosper.
1:4: As for the ungodly, it is not so with them: but they are like the dust, which the wind scattereth away from the ground.
1:5: Therefore the ungodly shall not be able to stand in the judgment, neither the sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
1:6: For the LORD alloweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

2:1: Why do the heathen grudge? Why do the people imagine vain things?
2:2: The kings of the earth stand_{stode} up, and the rulers are come together, against the LORD, and against his anointed.
2:3: Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their yoke from us.
2:4: Nevertheless he that dwelleth in heaven, shall laugh them to scorn: yea even the Lord_|LORDE| himself shall have them in derision.
2:5: Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
2:6: Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Sion.
2:7: As for me, I will preach the law, whereof the LORD hath said unto me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.
2:8: Desire of me, and I shall give thee the Heathen for thine inheritance; Yea the uttermost_|utmost| parts of the world for thy possession.
2:9: Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and break them in pieces like an earthen vessel.
2:10: Be wise now therefore, O ye kings, be warned, ye that are judges of the earth.
2:11: Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice before him with reverence.
2:12: Kiss the Son, lest the Lord_|LORDE| be angry, and so ye perish from the right way. For his wrath shall be kindled shortly: blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

3:1: ((A Psalm of David when he fled from the face of Absalom.)) Why are they so many, O LORD, that trouble me? a great multitude are they, that rise against me.
3:2: Yea many one there be that say of my soul: There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3:3: But thou, O LORD, art my defender, my worship, and the lifter up of my head.
3:4: I call upon the LORD with my voice, and he heareth me out of his holy hill. Selah.
3:5: I laid me down and slept, but I rose up again, for the LORD sustained me.
3:6: I am not afraid for thousands of the people, that compass me round about.
3:7: Up LORD, and help me, O my God: for thou smitest all mine enemies upon the cheek bones, and breakest the teeth of the ungodly.
3:8: Help belongeth unto the LORD, therefore let thy blessing be upon thy people.

4:1: ((To the Chanter in Neginoth, a Psalm of David)) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou that comfortest me in my trouble: have mercy upon me, and harken unto my prayer.
4:2: O ye sons of men, how long will ye blaspheme mine honour? why have ye such pleasure in vanity, and seek after lies? Selah.
4:3: Know this, that the LORD dealeth marvelously with his saint: and when I call upon the LORD, he heareth me.
4:4: Be angry, but sin not: come with your own hearts upon your beds, and remember your selves. Selah.
4:5: Offer the sacrifice of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
4:6: There be many that say: Who will do us any good? LORD lift up upon_{|where as thou (o LORD) hast shewed|} us the light of thy countenance.
4:7: Thou rejoicest mine heart, though their increase be great both in corn and wine.
4:8: Therefore will I lay me down in peace, and take my rest: for thou, LORD only settest me in a sure dwelling.

5:1: ((To the Chanter in Nehiloth, a Psalm of David.)) Hear my words (O LORD) consider my calling.
5:2: O mark the voice of my petition, my King and my God, for unto thee will I make my prayer.
5:3: Hear my voice by times (O LORD) for early in the morning will I get me unto thee, yea and that with diligence.
5:4: For thou art not the God that hath pleasure in wickedness, there may no ungodly person dwell with thee.
5:5: Such as be cruel may not stand in thy sight, thou art an enemy unto all wicked doers.
5:6: Thou destroyest the liars: the LORD abhoreth the bloodthirsty and deceitful.
5:7: But as for me, I will come into thy house, even upon the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
5:8: Lead me (O LORD) in thy righteousness because of mine enemies, and make thy way plain before me.
5:9: For there is no faithfulness in their mouths: they dissemble in their hearts: their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they deceive.
5:10: Punish them (O God) that they may perish in their own imaginations: cast them out because of the multitude of their ungodliness, for they rebel against thee.
5:11: Again, let all them that put their trust in thee, rejoice: yea let them ever be giving of thanks, because thou defendest them: that they which love thy name, may be joyful in thee.
5:12: For thou LORD givest thy blessing unto the righteous: and with thy favourable kindness thou defendest him, as with a shield.

6:1: ((To the Chanter in Neginoth upon Sheminith, a Psalm of David.)) Oh LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger: Oh chasten me not in thy heavy displeasure.
6:2: Have mercy upon me (O LORD) for I am weak: O LORD heal me, for all my bones are vexed.
6:3: My soul also is in great trouble, but LORD, how long?
6:4: Turn thee (O LORD) and deliver my soul: Oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
6:5: For in death no man remembereth thee: Oh who will give thee thanks in the hell?
6:6: I am weary of groaning: every night wash I my bed, and water my couch with my tears.
6:7: My countenance is changed for very inward grief, I consume away, I have so many enemies.
6:8: Away from me all ye wicked doers, for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
6:9: The LORD hath heard my humble petition, the LORD hath received my prayer.
6:10: All mine enemies shall be confounded and sore vexed: yea they shall be turned back and put to shame, and that right soon.

7:1: ((Sigaion of David, which he sang for the words of Cus the son of Jemini.)) O LORD_|Lorde| my God, in thee do I trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.
7:2: Lest he hantche up my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is none to help.
7:3: O LORD my God, if I have done any such thing, if there be any unrighteousness in my hands:
7:4: If I have rewarded evil unto them that dealt friendly with me, or hurt them that without any cause are mine enemies:
7:5: Then let mine enemy persecute my soul, and take me: yea let him tread my life down in the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah.
7:6: Stand_|Stode| up (O LORD) in thy wrath, lift up thyself over the furious indignation of mine enemies: arise up (for me) in the vengeance that thou hast promised.
7:7: That the congregation of the people may come about thee, for their sakes therefore lift up thyself again.
7:8: The LORD is judge over the people: avenge me then (O LORD) according to my righteousness and innocence.
7:9: Oh let the wickedness of the ungodly come to an end: but maintain the just, thou righteous God, that triest the very hearts and reins.
7:10: My help cometh of God, which preserveth them that are true of heart.
7:11: God is a righteous judge, and God is ever threatening.
7:12: If men will not turn, he hath whet his sword: he hath bent his bow and made it ready.
7:13: He hath prepared_|prepayred| him the weapons of death, and ordained his arrows to destroy.
7:14: Behold, he travaileth with mischief, he hath conceived unhappiness, and brought forth a lie.
7:15: He hath graven and digged up a pit, but he shall fall himself into the pit that he hath made.
7:16: For his unhappiness shall come upon his own head, and his wickedness shall fall upon his own pate.
7:17: As for me, I will give thanks unto the LORD for his righteousness' sake, and will praise the name of the LORD the most highest._|hyest|

8:1: ((To the Chanter upon Githith, a Psalm of David.)) O LORD_|Lorde| our governour: how wonderfull is thy name in all the world? how excellent is thy glory above the heavens.
8:2: Out of the mouth of the very babes and sucklings, thou hast ordained_|ordened| praise, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest destroy the enemy and the avenger.
8:3: For I consider thy heavens, even the work of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast made.
8:4: Oh what is man, that thou art so mindful of him? either the son of man that thou visitest him?
8:5: After thou hadst for a season made him lower than the angels, thou crownest him with honor and glory.
8:6: Thou hast set him above the works of thy hands: and thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet.
8:7: All sheep and oxen, yea and the beasts of the field.
8:8: The fowls of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever walketh thorow the ways of the sea.
8:9: O LORD our governour, how wonderful is thy name in all the world?

9:1: ((To the Chanter upon Almuth Laben, a Psalm of David.)) I will give thanks unto thee (O LORD) with my whole heart, I will speak of all thy marvelous works.
9:2: I will be glad, and rejoice in thee, yea my songs will I make of thy name, O thou most highest._|hyest|
9:3: Because thou hast driven mine enemies aback, they were discomfited, and perished at thy presence.
9:4: For thou hast maintained my right and my cause: thou sittest in the throne that art the true judge.
9:5: Thou rebukest the heathen, and destroyest the ungodly, thou puttest out their name for ever and ever.
9:6: The enemie's swords are come to an end, thou hast overthrown their cities, their memorial is perished with them.
9:7: But the LORD endureth for ever, he hath prepared his seat unto judgment.
9:8: He governeth the world with righteousness, and ministereth true judgment unto the people.
9:9: The LORD is a defense for the poor, a defense in the time of trouble.
9:10: Therefore they that know thy name, put their trust in thee: for thou (LORD) never failest them that seek thee.
9:11: O praise the LORD, which dwelleth in Sion, shew the people of his doings.
9:12: And why? he maketh inquisition for their blood, and remembereth them: he forgetteth not the complaint of the poor.
9:13: Have mercy upon me,(O LORD) consider the trouble that I am in among mine enemies, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death.
9:14: That I may shew all thy praises within the ports of the daughter of Sion, and rejoice in thy saving health.
9:15: As for the Heathen, they are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the same net which they spread out privily, is their own foot taken.
9:16: Thus the LORD is known to execute true judgment, when the ungodly is trapped in the works of his own hands. Selah.
9:17: The wicked must be turned unto hell, and all the Heathen that forget God.
9:18: But the poor shall not all way be out of remembrance, the patient abiding of such as be in trouble shall not perish for ever.
9:19: Up LORD, let no man have the upper hand, let the Heathen be condemned before thee.
9:20: O LORD set a school master over them, that the Heathen may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

10:1: Why art thou gone so far off, O LORD? whilt thou hide thyself in time of trouble?
10:2: While the ungodly hath the over hand, the poor must suffer persecution: O that they were taken in the imagination which they go about.
10:3: For the ungodly maketh boast_|boost| of his own heart's desire, the covetous blesseth himself, and blasphemeth the LORD.
10:4: The ungodly is so proud and full of indignation, that he careth not: neither is God before his eyes.
10:5: His ways are alway filthy, thy judgments are far out of his sight, he defyeth all his enemies.
10:6: For he sayeth in his heart: Tush, I shall never be cast down, there shall no harm happen to me.
10:7: His mouth is full of cursing, fraud and deceit: under his tongue is travail and sorrow.
10:8: He sitteth lurking in the gardens, that he may privily murder the innocent, his eyes are set upon the poor.
10:9: He lieth waiting secretly, as it were a lion in his den. He lurketh that he may ravish the poor, yea to ravish the poor when he hath gotten him into his net.
10:10: Then smiteth he, then oppresseth he and casteth down the poor with his authority.
10:11: For he sayeth in his heart: Tush, God hath forgotten, he hath turned away his face, so that he will never see it.
10:12: Arise O LORD God, lift up thine hand and forget not the poor.
10:13: Wherefore should the wicked blaspheme God and say in his heart: tush, he careth not for it:
10:14: This thou seest, for thou considerest the misery and sorrow. The poor giveth himself over in to thy hand, and committeth him unto thee, for thou art the helper of the friendless.
10:15: Break thou the arm off the ungodly and malicious, search out the wickedness which he hath done, that he may perish.
10:16: The LORD is King for ever, the Heathen shall perish out of his land.
10:17: LORD, thou hearest the desirous longing of the poor: their heart is sure, that thine ear hearkeneth thereto.
10:18: Help the fatherless and the poor unto their right, that the ungodly be no more exalted upon earth.

11:1: ((To the Chanter, of David.)) In the LORD put I my trust: how will ye then say to my soul: that she should flee as a bird upon your hill?
11:2: For lo, the ungodly have bend their bow, and made ready their arrows in the quiver, that they may privily shoot at them, which are true of heart.
11:3: The very foundations have they cast down, what can the righteous then do with all?
11:4: But the LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's seat is in heaven: he considereth with his eyes, his eyelids behold the children of men.
11:5: The LORD seeth both the righteous and ungodly, but who so delighteth in wickedness, him his soul abhoreth.
11:6: Upon the ungodly he shall rain snares, fire, brimstone, storm and tempest: this reward shall they have to drink.
11:7: For the LORD is righteous, and he loveth righteousness: his countenance beholdeth the thing that is just.

12:1: ((To the Chanter upon Sheminith, a Psalm of David.)) Help LORD, for there is not one saint more: very few faithful are there among the children of men.
12:2: Every man telleth lies to his neighbour, they do but flatter with their lips and dissemble in their heart.
12:3: O that the LORD would root out all deceitful lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things.
12:4: Which said: our tongue should prevail: we are they that ought to speak, who is lord over us?
12:5: Now for the trouble's sake of the oppressed, and because of the complaint of the poor, I will up (sayeth the LORD) I will help them, and set them at rest.
12:6: The words of the LORD are pure words: even as the silver, which from the earth is tried and purified seven times in the fire.
12:7: Keep them therefore (O LORD) and preserve us from this generation for ever.
12:8: And why? when vanity and idleness getteth the overhand among the children of men, all are full of the ungodly.

13:1: ((To the chanter, a Psalm of David)) How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
13:2: Oh how long shall I seek counsel in my soul? how long shall I be so vexed in my heart? how long shall mine enemy triumph over me?
13:3: Consider, and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, that I sleep not in death.
13:4: Lest mine enemy say: I have prevailed against him: for if I be cast down, they that trouble me will rejoice at it.
13:5: But my trust is in thy mercy, and my heart is joyful in thy saving health.
13:6: I will sing of the LORD, that dealeth so lovingly with me. (Yea I will praise the name of the LORD the most highest.)_|hyest|

14:1: ((To the chanter, a Psalm of David)) The foolish bodies say in their hearts: Tush, there is no God. They are corrupt, and become abominable in their doings, there is not one that doth good.
14:2: The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that would understand and seek after God.
14:3: But they are all gone out of the way, they are all together become unprofitable: there is none that doth good, no not one.
14:4: How can they have understanding, that work mischief, eating up my people, as it were bread, and call not upon the LORD?
14:5: Therefore shall they be brought in great fear, for God standeth by the generation of the righteous.
14:6: As for you, ye have made a mock at the counsel of the poor, because he putteth his trust in the LORD.
14:7: Oh that the saving health were given unto Israel out of Sion. Oh that the LORD would deliver his people out of captivity. Then should Jacob rejoice, and Israel should be right glad.

15:1: ((A Psalm of David.)) LORD,_|Lorde| who shall dwell in thy tabernacle? who shall rest upon thy holy hill?
15:2: Even he that leadeth an uncorrupt life: that doth the thing which is right, and that speaketh the truth from his heart.
15:3: He that useth no deceit in his tongue: he that doth no evil to his neighbour, and slandereth_{|sclaundereth|} not his neighbours.
15:4: He that sitteth not by the ungodly, but maketh much of them that fear the LORD: he that sweareth unto his neighbour, and disappointeth_{|dispointeth|} him not.
15:5: He that giveth not his money upon usury, and taketh no reward against the innocent. Who so doth these things, shall never be removed.

16:1: ((Michtam of David)) Preserve me, (O God) for in thee do I trust.
16:2: I have said unto the LORD: thou art my God, my goods are nothing unto thee.
16:3: All my delight is upon the saints that are in the earth, and upon such like.
16:4: But they that run after another, shall have great trouble. Their drink offerings of blood will not I offer, neither make mention of their name in my mouth.
16:5: The LORD him self is my good and my portion, thou maintainest mine inheritance.
16:6: The lot is fallen unto me in fair ground, yea I have a goodly heritage.
16:7: I will thank the LORD for giving me warning: my reins also have chastened me in the night season.
16:8: Afore hand saw I GOD alwayes before me, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.
16:9: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad, my flesh also shall rest in hope.
16:10: For why? thou shalt not leave my soul in hell, neither shalt thou suffer thy saint to see corruption.
16:11: Thou hast shewed me the ways of life: thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. At thy right hand there is pleasure and joy for evermore.

17:1: ((A prayer of David.)) Hear the right (O LORD) consider my complaint: harken to my prayer, that goeth not out of a feigned mouth.
17:2: Let my sentence come forth from thy presence: and look upon the thing that is equal.
17:3: Thou hast proved and visited mine heart in the night season: thou hast tried me in the fire: and hast found no wickedness in me: for I utterly purposed that my mouth should not offend.
17:4: Because the words of thy lips, I have kept me from the works of men: in the way of the murderer.
17:5: Oh order thou my goings in thy paths: that my footsteps slip not.
17:6: For unto thee I cry: hear me O God: incline thine ears unto me: and harken unto my words.
17:7: Shew thy marvelous loving-kindness, thou that savest them which put their trust in thee, from such as resist thy right hand.
17:8: Keep me as the apple of an eye, defend me under the shadow of thy wings.
17:9: From the ungodly that trouble me, from my enemies which compass my soul round about.
17:10: Which maintain their own wealthiness with oppression, and their mouth speaketh proud things.
17:11: They lie waiting in our way on every side, turning their eyes down to the ground.
17:12: Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a lion's whelp lurking in his den.
17:13: Up LORD, disappoint_|dispoynte| him and cast him down: deliver my soul with thy sword from the ungodly.
17:14: From the men of thy hand (O LORD) from the men of the world, which have their portion in this life: whose bellies thou fillest with thy treasure.
17:15: They have children at their desire, and leave the rest of their substance for their babes. But as for me, I will behold thy presence in righteousness: and when thy glory appeareth, I shall be satisfied.

18:1: ((To the chanter of David, servaunt of the LORD, which saide unto the LORD the words of this song, on the day in which the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul, and said:)) I will love thee, (O LORD) my strength.
18:2: The LORD is my succor, my refuge, my Savior: my God, my helper, in whom I trust: my buckler, the horn of my health, and my protection.
18:3: I will praise the LORD, and call upon him, so shall I be save from mine enemies.
18:4: The sorrows of death compassed me, and the brooks of ungodliness made me afraid.
18:5: The pains of hell came about me, the snares of death took hold upon me.
18:6: Yet in my trouble I called upon the LORD, and complained unto my God. So he heard my voice out of his holy temple, and my complaint came before him, yea even into his ears.
18:7: Then the earth trembled and quaked, the very foundations of the hills shook and were removed, because he was wroth.
18:8: There went a smoke out of his nostrils, and a consuming fire out of his mouth, so that coals were kindled at it.
18:9: He bowed the heavens, and came down, and it was dark under his feet.
18:10: He rode upon the Cherub, and did fly: he came flying with the wings of the wind.
18:11: He made darkness his pavilion round about him, with dark waters and thick clouds to cover him.
18:12: At the brightness of his presence the clouds removed, with hail stones and coals of fire.
18:13: The LORD also thundered out of the heaven, and the height gave his thunder with hail stones and coals of fire.
18:14: He sent out his arrows and scattered them, he cast sore lightnings, and destroyed them.
18:15: The springs of waters were seen, and the foundations of the round world were discovered at thy chiding (O LORD) at the blasting and breath of thy displeasures.
18:16: He sent down from the height_|heyth| to fetch me, and took me out of great waters.
18:17: He delivered me from my strong enemies, and from my foes which were to mighty for me.
18:18: They prevented me in the time of my trouble, but the LORD was my defense.
18:19: He brought me forth also into liberty: and delivered me, because he had a favor unto me.
18:20: The LORD shall reward me after my righteous dealing, and according to the cleanness of my hands shall he recompense me.
18:21: For I have kept the ways of the LORD: and have not behaved myself wickedly against my God.
18:22: I have an eye unto all his laws, and cast not out his commandments from me.
18:23: Uncorrupt will I be before him, and will eschew my own wickedness.
18:24: Therefore shall the LORD reward me after my righteous dealing, and according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
18:25: With the holy thou shalt be holy, and with the innocent thou shalt be innocent.
18:26: With the clean thou shalt be clean, and with the froward thou shalt be froward.
18:27: For thou shalt save the poor oppressed, and bring down the high looks of the proud.
18:28: Thou lightest my candle, O LORD my God: thou makest my darkness to be light.
18:29: For in thee I can discomfort an host of men: yea in my God I can leap over the wall.
18:30: The way of God is a perfect way: the words of the LORD are tried in the fire: he is a shield of defense, for all them that trust in him.
18:31: For who is God, but the LORD? Or, who hath any strength, but our God?
18:32: It is God that hath girded me with strength, and made my way uncorrupt.
18:33: He hath made my feet like hart's feet, and set me up on high._{{an hye}}
18:34: He teacheth my hands to fight, and maketh mine arms to break even a bow of steel.
18:35: Thou hast given me the defense of thy health, thy right hand upholdeth me, and thy loving correction maketh me great.
18:36: Thou hast made room enough under me for to go, that my foot steps should not slide.
18:37: I will follow upon mine enemies, and take them: I will not turn till they be discomfited.
18:38: I will smite them, they shall not be able to stand, but fall under my feet.
18:39: Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle, thou hast thrown them all down under me, that rose up against me.
18:40: Thou hast made mine enemies to turn their backs upon me, thou hast destroyed them that hated me.
18:41: They cried, but there was none to help them: yea even unto the LORD, but he heard them not.
18:42: I will beat them as small as the dust clay in_|before| the wind, I will cast them out as the clay in the streets.
18:43: Thou shalt deliver me from the strivings of the people, thou shalt make me the head of the Heathen. A people whom I have not known shall serve me.
18:44: As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me, but the strange children dissemble with me.
18:45: The strange children are waxen old, and go halting out of their paths.
18:46: The LORD liveth: and blessed be my helper, praised be the God of my health.
18:47: Even the God which seeth that I be avenged, and subdueth the people unto me.
18:48: It is he that delivereth me from my cruel enemies: thou shalt lift me up from them that rise against me, thou shalt rid me from the wicked man.
18:49: For this cause I will give thanks unto thee (O LORD) among the gentiles, and sing praises unto thy name.
18:50: Great prosperity giveth he unto his king, and sheweth loving-kindness unto David his anointed, yea and to his seed for evermore.

19:1: ((To the Chanter, a Psalm of David.)) The very heavens declare the glory of God, and the very firmament sheweth his handiwork.
19:2: One day telleth another, and one night certifieth another.
19:3: There is neither speech nor language, but their voices are heard among them.
19:4: Their sound is gone out into all lands, and their words in to the ends of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the Sun,_|Sone|
19:5: which cometh forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a giant to run his course.
19:6: It goeth forth from the one end of the heaven, and runneth about unto the same end again, and there may no man hide himself from the heat thereof.
19:7: The law of the LORD is a perfect law, it quickeneth the soul. The testimony of the LORD is true, and giveth wisdom even unto babes.
19:8: The statutes of the LORD are right, and rejoice the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, and giveth light unto the eyes.
19:9: The fear of the LORD is clean, and endureth for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
19:10: More pleasant are they than gold, yea than much fine gold: sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
19:11: These thy servant keepeth, and for keeping of them there is great reward.
19:12: Who can tell, how oft he offendeth? Oh cleanse thou me from my secret faults.
19:13: Keep thy servant also from presumptuous sins, lest they get dominion over me: so shall I be undefiled and innocent from the great offense.
19:14: Yea the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart shall be acceptable unto thee, O LORD, my helper and my redeemer.

20:1: ((To the Chanter, a Psalm of David.)) The LORD hear thee in the time of trouble, the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.
20:2: Send thee help from the Sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Sion.
20:3: Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy brent sacrifice. Selah.
20:4: Grant thee thy heart's desire, and fulfil all thy mind.
20:5: We will rejoice in thy health, and triumph in the name of the LORD our God: the LORD performe all thy petitions.
20:6: Now know I, that the LORD helpeth his anointed, and will hear him from his holy heaven: mighty is the help of his right hand.
20:7: Some put their trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
20:8: They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen and stand_|stonde| up right.
20:9: Save, LORD, and help us, O king, when we call upon thee.

21:1: ((To the Chanter, a Psalm of David)) LORD,_|Lorde| how joyful is the king in thy strength? O how exceedingly glad is he of thy saving health?
21:2: Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not put him from the request of his lips. Selah.
21:3: For thou hast prevented him with liberal blessings, and set a crown of gold on his head.
21:4: He asked life of thee, and thou gavest him a long life, even for ever and ever.
21:5: His honour is great in thy saving health, glory and great worship shalt thou lay upon him.
21:6: For thou shalt give him everlasting felicity, and make him glad with the joy of thy countenance.
21:7: And why? because the king putteth his trust in the LORD, and in the mercy of the most highest_|hiest| he shall not miscarry.
21:8: Let all thine enemies feel thy hand: let thy right hand find out all them that hate thee.

22:2: O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not: and in the night season also I take no rest.

22:4: Our fathers hoped in thee, they trusted in thee, and thou didst_|diddest| deliver them.
22:5: They called upon thee, and were helped: they put their trust in thee, and were not confounded.

22:24: For he hath not despised nor abhorred the miserable estate of the poor: he hath not hid his face from me, but when I called unto him, he heard me.
22:25: I will praise thee in the great congregation, and perform my vows in the sight of all them that fear thee.
22:26: The poor shall eat and be satisfied: they that seek after the LORD shall praise him: our heart shall live for ever.
22:27: All the ends of the world shall remember themselves, and be turned unto the LORD: and all the generations of the Heathen shall worship before him.
22:28: For the kingdom is the LORD's, and he shall be the governour of the Heathen.
22:29: All such as be fat upon earth, shall eat also and worship. All they that lie in the dust, and live so hardly, shall fall down before him.

23:1: ((A Psalm of David.)) The LORD is my shepherd, I can want nothing.
23:2: He feedeth me in a green pasture, and leadeth me to a fresh water.

23:4: Though I should walk now in the valley of the shadow of death, yet I fear no evil, for thou art with me: thy staff and thy sheephook comfort me.

25:1: ((Of David)) Unto thee, (O LORD) I lift up my soul.

25:3: For all they that hope in thee shall not be ashamed: but such as be scornful dispisers without a cause, they shall be put to confusion.
25:4: Shew me thy ways, O LORD, and teach me thy paths.
25:5: Lead me in thy truth, and learn me, for thou art the God of my health, and in thee is my hope all the day long.

27:1: ((Of David)) The LORD is my light and my health: whom then should I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life, for whom then should I be afraid?
27:2: Therefore when the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me, to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
27:3: Though an host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid: and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in him.
27:4: One thing have I desired of the LORD, which I will require: namely, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the fair beauty of the LORD, and to visit his temple.
27:5: For in the time of trouble he hath hid me in his tabernacle, yea in the secret place of his dwelling hath he kept and set me up upon a rock of stone.

28:1: ((Of David)) Unto thee will I cry, O my strong defense: think no scorn of me, lest, if thou make thee as though thou heardest not, I be come like them, that go down into the pit.
28:2: Hear the voice of my humble petition, when I cry unto thee, and hold up my hands toward thy holy temple.
28:3: O pluck me not away among the ungodly and wicked doers, which speak friendly to their neighbours, but imagine mischief in their hearts.
28:4: Reward them according to their deeds and wickedness of their own inventions. Recompense them after the works of their hands, pay them that they have deserved.
28:5: For they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands: therefore shall he break them down, and not build them up.
28:6: Praised be the LORD, for he hath heard the voice of my humble petition.
28:7: The LORD is my strength and my shield: my heart hoped in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart danceth for joy, and I will sing praises unto him.
28:8: The LORD is the strength of his people, he is the defender and Saviour of his anointed.
28:9: O help thy people, give thy blessing unto thine inheritance: feed them, and set them up for ever.

29:1: ((A Psalm of David.)) Ascribe unto the LORD, O ye mighty, ascribe unto the LORD worship and strength.
29:2: Give the LORD the honour of his name, bow yourselves to the holy majesty of the LORD.
29:3: It is the LORD that commandeth the waters: It is the glorious God that maketh the thunder: it is the LORD that ruleth the sea.
29:4: The voice of the LORD is mighty in operation, the voice of the LORD is a glorious voice.
29:5: The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedar trees: yea the LORD breaketh the Cedars of Lebanon.
29:6: He maketh them to skip like a calf: Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

31:4: Draw me out of the net that they have laid privily for me, for thou art my strength.

31:19: O how great and manifold is thy good, which thou haste hid for them that fear thee? O what things bringest thou to pass for them, that put their trust in thee, even before the sons of men?
31:20: Thou hidest them privily by thine own presence from the proud men, thou keepest them secretly in thy tabernacle, from the strife of tongues.
31:21: Thanks be to the LORD, for he hath shewed me marvelous great kindness in a strong city.
31:22: For when the sudden fear came upon me, I said: I am cast out of thy sight. Nevertheless, thou heardest mine humble prayer, when I cried unto thee.
31:23: O love the LORD, (all ye his saints) for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plenteously rewardeth he the proud doer.
31:24: Be strong therefore and take a good heart unto you, all ye that put your trust in the LORD.

32:1: ((An Instruction of David.)) Blessed are they, whose unrighteousness is forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
32:2: Blessed is the man, unto whom the LORD imputeth no sin, in whose spirit there is no guile.
32:3: For while I held my tongue, my bones consumed away thorow my daily complainings.
32:4: And because thy hand was so heavy on me both day and night, my moisture was like the drought in Summer. Selah.
32:5: Therefore I confessed my sin unto thee, and hid not mine unrighteousness. I said: I will knowledge my offense, and accuse my self unto the LORD, and so thou forgavest me the wickedness of my sin. Selah.
32:6: For this shall every saint make his prayer unto thee in due season, therefore shall not the great water floods come nye him.
32:7: Thou art my defense in the trouble that is come about me, O compass thou me about also with the joy of deliverance. Selah.
32:8: I will enform thee, and shew thee the way wherein thou shalt go: I will fasten mine eyes upon thee.
32:9: Be not ye now like horses and mules, which have no understanding. Whose mouths thou must hold with bit and bridle, if they will not obey thee.
32:10: Great plagues shall the ungodly have, but who so putteth his trust in the LORD, mercy shall compass him on every side.
32:11: Be glad, O ye righteous, and rejoice in the LORD, be joyful all ye that are true of heart.

33:1: Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous, for it becometh well the just to be thankful.
33:2: Praise the LORD with harp: sing psalms unto him with the lute and instrument of ten strings.
33:3: Sing him a new song, yea sing lustily unto him, and with a good courage.
33:4: For the word of the LORD is true, and all his works are faithful.
33:5: He loveth mercy and judgment, the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
33:6: By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the Hosts of them by the breath of his mouth.
33:7: He gathereth the waters together as it were in a bottle, and layeth up the deep in secret.
33:8: Let all the earth fear the LORD, and let all them that dwell in the world, stand_{stode} in awe of him.
33:9: For look what he sayeth, it is done: and look what he commandeth, it standeth fast.
33:10: The LORD bringeth the counsel of the Heathen to naught, and turneth the devices of the people.
33:11: But the counsel of the LORD endureth, and the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
33:12: Blessed are the people that hold the LORD for their God, and blessed are the folk whom he hath chosen to be his heritage.
33:13: The LORD looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men:
33:14: from his strong seat he considereth all them that dwell in the world.
33:15: He only hath fashioned all the hearts of them, and knoweth all their works.
33:16: A king is not helped by his own great host, neither is a giant saved thorow the might of his own strength.
33:17: A horse is but a vain thing to save a man, it is not the power of his strength that can deliver him.
33:18: Behold, the eye of the LORD looketh unto them that fear him, and put their trust in his mercy.
33:19: That he may deliver their souls from death, and to feed them in the deare time.
33:20: Let our soul patiently abide the LORD, for he is our help and shield.
33:21: So shall our heart rejoice in him, because we have hoped in his holy name.
33:22: Let thy merciful kindness, O LORD, be upon us, like as we put our trust in thee.

34:1: ((Of David, when he fained him self to be made before Abimelech: which drove him away, and he departed.)) I will alway give thanks unto the LORD, his praise shall ever be in my mouth.
34:2: My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble_{|poor oppressed|} shall hear thereof, and be glad.
34:3: O praise the LORD with me, and let us magnify his name together.
34:4: I sought the LORD, and he heard me, yea he delivered me out of all my fear.
34:5: They that have a eye unto him, shall be lightened, and their faces shall not be ashamed.
34:6: This poor man cried unto the LORD, and he heard him, yea and delivered him out of all his troubles.

34:16: But the face of the LORD beholdeth them that do evil, to destroy the remembrance of them out of the earth.
34:17: When the righteous cry, the LORD heareth them, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
34:18: The LORD is nye unto them that are contrite in heart, and will help such as be of an humble spirit.
34:19: Great are the troubles of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth them out of all.
34:20: He keepeth all their bones, so that not one of them is broken.
34:21: But misfortune shall slay the ungodly, and they that hate the righteous shall be guilty.
34:22: The LORD delivereth the souls of his servants, and all they that put their trust in him, shall not offend.

35:1: ((Of David.)) Strive thou with them, O LORD, that strive with me, fight thou against them that fight against me.
35:2: Lay hand upon the shield and spear, and stand up to help me.
35:3: Draw out thy sword, and stop_{stoppe} the way against them that persecute me, say unto my soul: I am thy help.
35:4: Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion, that imagine mischief for me.
35:5: Let them be as the dust before the wind, and the angel of the LORD scattering them.
35:6: Let their way be dark and slippery, and the angel of the LORD to persecute them.
35:7: For they have privily laid their net to destroy me without cause, yea, and made a pit for my soul, which I never deserved.
35:8: Let a sudden destruction come upon him unawares, and the net that he hath laid privily, catch himself, that he may fall into his own mischief.
35:9: But let my soul be joyful in the LORD, and rejoice in his help.
35:10: All my bones shall say: LORD, who is like unto thee? which deliverest the poor from those that are too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from his robbers.
35:11: False witnesses are risen up, and lay to my charge things that I know not.
35:12: They reward me evil for good, to the great discomforth of my soul.
35:13: Nevertheless, when they were sick, I put on a sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
35:14: I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother, I went heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
35:15: But in mine adversity they rejoice, and gather them together: Yea, the very lame come together against me unawares, making mowes at me, and cease not.
35:16: With the greedy and scornful hypocrites, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
35:17: Lord,_|LORDE| when wilt thou look upon this? O restore my soul from the wicked rumour of them, my darling from the lions.
35:18: So will I give thee thanks in the great congregation, and praise thee among much people.
35:19: O let them not triumph over me, that are mine enemies for naught: O let them not wink with their eyes, that hate me without a cause.
35:20: And why? their communing_|comoning| is not for peace, but they imagine false words against the outcasts of the land.
35:21: They gape upon me with their mouths, saying: there there: we see it with our eyes.
35:22: This thou seest, O LORD: hold not thy tongue then, go not far from me, O Lord._|LORDE|
35:23: Awake Lord,_|LORDE| and stand up: avenge thou my cause, my God, and my Lord._|LORDE|
35:24: Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness, that they triumph not over me.
35:25: O let them not say in their hearts: there there, so would we have it: O let them not say: we have overcome him.
35:26: Let them be put to confusion and shame, that rejoice at my trouble: let them be clothed with rebuke and dishonour, that boast themselves against me.
35:27: Let them also be glad and rejoice, that favour my righteous dealing: yea let them say alway: blessed be the LORD, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
35:28: And as for my tongue, it shall be talking of thy righteousness and of thy praise, all the day long.

36:1: ((To the Chanter, of David the servant of the LORD)) My heart sheweth me the wickedness of the ungodly, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
36:2: For he dissembleth before his face, so long till his abominable sin be found out.
36:3: The words of his mouth are unrighteousness and deceit, he will not be learned to do good.
36:4: He imagineth mischief upon his bed, he will come in no good way, nor refuse the thing that is evil.
36:5: Thy mercy, O LORD, reacheth unto the heaven, and thy faithfulness unto the clouds.
36:6: Thy righteousness standeth like the strong mountains, and thy judgment like the great deep. Thou LORD preservest both men and beasts.
36:7: How precious is thy mercy, O God, that the children of men may put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
36:8: They shall be satisfied with the plenteousness of thy house, and thou shalt give them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
36:9: For by thee is the well of life, and in thy light, shall we see light.
36:10: O spread forth thy loving-kindness unto them that know thee, and thy righteousness unto them that are true of heart.
36:11: O let not the foot of pride overtake me, O let not the hand of the ungodly cast me down.
36:12: As for wicked doers, they fall, they are cast down, and are not able to stand._{stode}

37:1: ((A Psalm of David.)) Fret not thyself at the ungodly, be not thou envious against the evil doers.
37:2: For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and be withered even as the green herb.
37:3: Put thou thy trust in the LORD, and be doing good: so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily it shall feed thee.
37:4: Delight thou in the LORD, and he shall give thee thy heart's desire.
37:5: Commit thy way unto the LORD, set thy hope in him, and he shall bring it to pass.
37:6: Yea He shall make thy righteousness as clear as the light, and thy just dealing as the noonday.
37:7: Hold thee still in the LORD, and abide patiently upon him: but grieve not thyself at one that hath prosperity, and liveth in abomination.
37:8: Leave off from wrath, let go displeasure, let not thy jealousy move thee also to do evil.
37:9: For wicked doers shall be rooted out, but they that patiently abide the LORD, shall inherit_|enherit| the land.
37:10: Suffer yet a little while, and the ungodly shall be clean gone: thou shalt look after his place, and he shall be away.
37:11: But the meek spirited shall possess the earth, and have pleasure in much rest.
37:12: The ungodly layeth wait for the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
37:13: But the Lord_|LORDE| laugheth him to scorn, for he seeth that his day is coming.
37:14: The ungodly draw out the sword and bend their bow, to cast down the simple and poor, and to slay such as go the right way.
37:15: Nevertheless, their sword shall go thorow their own heart, and their bow shall be broken.
37:16: A small thing that the righteous hath, is better than the great riches of the ungodly.
37:17: For the arms of the ungodly shall be broken, but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
37:18: The LORD knoweth the days of the godly, and their inheritance endureth for ever.
37:19: They shall not be confounded in the perilous time, and in the days of dearth they shall have enough.
37:20: As for the ungodly, they shall perish: and when the enemies of the LORD are in their flourish,_{|flouris, flurries|} they shall consume, yea even as the smoke shall they consume away.
37:21: The ungodly borroweth, and payeth not again, but the righteous is merciful and liberal.
37:22: Such as be blessed of him, shall possess the land: and they whom he curseth, shall be rooted out.
37:23: The LORD ordereth a good man's going, and hath pleasure in his way.
37:24: Though he fall, he shall not be hurt, for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
37:25: I have been young, and now am old: yet saw I never the righteous forsaken, nor his seed to seek their bread.
37:26: The righteous is ever merciful, and lendeth gently, therefore shall his seed be blessed.
37:27: Flee from evil, and do the thing that is good, so shalt thou dwell forever.
37:28: For the LORD loveth the thing that is right, he forsaketh not his saints, but they shall be preserved for evermore: as for the seed of the ungodly, it shall be rooted out.
37:29: Yea, the righteous shall possess the land, and dwell therein for ever.
37:30: The mouth of the righteous is exercised in wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
37:31: The law of his God is in his heart, therefore shall not his footsteps slide.
37:32: The ungodly seeth the righteous, and goeth about to slay him.
37:33: But the LORD will not leave him in his hands, nor condemn him when he is judged.
37:34: Hope thou in the LORD, and keep his way. And he shall so promote thee, that thou shalt have the land by inheritance, and see, when the ungodly shall perish.
37:35: I myself have seen the ungodly in great power, and flourishing like a green bay tree:
37:36: but when I went by, lo, he was gone: I sought him, but he could no where be found.
37:37: Keep innocency, and take heed unto the thing that is right, for that shall bring a man peace at the last.
37:38: As for the transgressors, they shall perish together, and the ungodly shall be rooted out at the last.
37:39: The help of the righteous cometh of the LORD, he is their strength in the time of trouble.
37:40: The LORD shall stand_{stode} by them, and save them: he shall deliver them from the ungodly, and help them, because they put their trust in him.

38:1: ((To the Chanter, to bring to remembrance)) Put me not to rebuke (Oh LORD) in thy anger: Oh chasten me not in thy heavy displeasure.
38:2: For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
38:3: There is no whole part in my body, because of thy displeasure: there is no rest in my bones, by reason of my sins.
38:4: For my wickednesses are gone over my head, and are like a sore burthen, too heavy for me to bear.
38:5: My wounds stink and are corrupt, thorow my foolishness.
38:6: I am brought into so great trouble and misery, that I go mourning all the day long.
38:7: For my loins are clean dried up, and there is no whole part in my body.
38:8: I am feeble and sore smitten, I roar for the very disquietness of my heart.
38:9: Lord,_|LORDE| thou knowest all my desire, and my groaning is not hid from thee.
38:10: My heart panteth, my strength hath failed me, and the light of mine eyes is gone from me.
38:11: My lovers and friends stand looking upon my trouble, and my kinsmen are gone afar off.
38:12: They that sought after my life, and to do me evil, spake of lies and imagined deceit_|disceate| all the day long.
38:13: As for me, I was like a deaf man and heard not: as one that were dumb, not opening his mouth.
38:14: I am become as a man that heareth not: and that can make no resistance with his mouth.
38:15: For in thee, O LORD, is my trust, thou shalt hear me, O Lord_|LORDE| my God.
38:16: My desire is, that mine enemies triumph not over me: for if my foot slip, they rejoice greatly against me.
38:17: I am ready to suffer trouble, and my heaviness is ever in my sight.
38:18: For I confess my wickedness, and my sin grieveth me.
38:19: But mine enemies live, and are mighty: and they that hate me without a cause, are many in number.
38:20: They that reward me evil for good, speak evil of me, because I follow the thing that good is.

39:2: I held my tongue, I was dumb, I kept silence, yea even from good words, but it was pain and grief to me.
39:3: My heart was hot within me, and while I was thus musing, the fire kindled: so that I spake with my tongue:
39:4: LORD, let me know mine end, and the number of my days: that I may be certified what I want.
39:5: Behold, thou hast made my days a span long, and my life as it were nothing before thee. O how vain are all men living? Selah
39:6: Yea every man walketh as it were a shadow, and disquieteth himself in vain: he heapeth up riches, and can not tell to whom he gathereth them.
39:7: And now Lord_|LORDE| wherein shall I comfort me? my hope is in thee.
39:8: Deliver me from all mine offenses, and make me not a scorn unto the foolish.
39:9: I keep silence, and open not my mouth, for thou hast done it.
39:10: Turn thy plagues away from me, for I am consumed thorow the fear of thy hand.
39:11: When thou punishest man for sin, thou chastenest him: so that his beauty consumeth away, like as it were a moth. O how vain are all men. Selah.
39:12: Hear my prayer O LORD, and consider my calling: shew not thyself as though thou sawest not my tears. For I am a stranger and pilgrim with thee, as all my forefathers were.
39:13: Oh spare me a little that I may refresh myself, before I go hence, and be no more seen.

40:1: ((To the chanter, a Psalm of David.)) I waited patiently for the LORD, which inclined_|enclined| himself unto me: and heard my calling.
40:2: He brought me out of the horrible pit, out of the mire and clay: he set my feet upon the rock, and ordered my goings.
40:3: He hath put a new song in my mouth, even a thanksgiving unto our God. Many men seeing this, shall fear the LORD, and put their trust in him.
40:4: Blessed is the man that setteth his hope in the LORD, and turneth not unto the proud, and to such as go about with lies.
40:5: O LORD my God, great are thy wonderous works which thou hast done: and in thy thoughts toward us there may none be likened unto thee. I would declare them, and speak of them: but they are so many, that they can not be told.
40:6: Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not have, but a body hast thou ordained me: burntoffering and sacrifice for sin thou hast not allowed.
40:7: Then said I: Lo, I come. In the beginning of the book it is written of me,
40:8: that I should fulfill thy will O my God, and that am I content to do: yea thy law is within my heart.
40:9: I will preach of thy righteousness in the great congregation: Lo, I will not refrained my lips, O LORD, and that thou knowest.
40:10: I do not hide thy righteousness in my heart, my talking is of thy truth and saving health: I keep not thy loving mercy and faithfulness back from the great congregation.
40:11: Turn not thou thy mercy from me, O LORD, but let thy loving-kindness and truth alway preserve me.
40:12: For innumerable troubles are come about me: my sins have taken such hold upon me, that I am not able to look up: yea they are more in number than the hairs of my head, and my heart hath failed me.
40:13: O LORD, let it be thy pleasure to deliver me, make haste (O LORD) to help me.
40:14: Let them be ashamed and confounded, that seek after my soul, to destroy it: let them fall backward and be put to confusion, that wish me evil.
40:15: Let them soon be brought to shame, that cry over me: there there.
40:16: But let all those that seek thee, be joyful and be glad in thee: and let all such as delight in thy saving health, say alway: The LORD be praised.
40:17: As for me, I am poor and in misery, but the Lord_|LORDE| careth for me. Thou art my helper and redeemer, make no long tarrying, O my God.

41:1: ((To the chanter, a Psalm of David.)) Blessed is he, that considereth the poor: the LORD shall deliver him in the time of trouble.
41:2: The LORD shall preserve him, and keep him alive: he shall make him to prosper upon earth, and shall not deliver him into the will of his enemies.
41:3: The LORD shall refresh him, when he lieth sick upon his bed, yea thou makest his bed in all his sickness.
41:4: I said: LORD be merciful unto me, heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.
41:5: Mine enemies speak evil upon me: when shall he die, and his name perish?
41:6: Though he came in to see, yet meaned he falsity_|falsede| in his heart, heaping mischief upon himself.
41:7: All they that hate me, run together against me, and imagine evil against me.
41:8: They have given a wicked sentence upon me: when he lieth, he shall rise up no more.
41:9: Yea even mine own familiar friend, whom I trusted, which did eat my bread, hath lift up his heel against me.
41:10: But be thou merciful unto me (O LORD) raise thou me up, and I shall reward them.
41:11: By this I know thou favourest me, that my enemy shall not triumph over me.
41:12: Thou hast upholden me because of my innocency, and set me before thy face for ever.

42:1: ((To the Chanter, a monition of the sons of Korah)) Like as the hart desireth the water brooks, so longeth my soul after thee, O God.
42:2: My soul is a thirst for God, yea even for the living God: when shall I come, and behold the face of God?
42:3: My tears are my meat day and night, while it is daily said unto me: Where is now thy God?
42:4: Now when I think there upon, I pour out my heart by myself: for I would fain go hence with the multitude, and pass over with them unto the house of God, in the voice of praise and thanksgiving, among such as keep holy day.
42:5: Why art thou so full of heaviness (O my soul) and why art thou so unquiet within me? O put thy trust in God, for I will yet give him thanks, for the help of his countenance.
42:6: My God, my soul is vexed within me: therefore I remember the land of Jordan, and the little hill of Hermonim.
42:7: One deep calleth another with the voice of thy whistles, all thy waves_|wawes| and water floods are gone over me.
42:8: The LORD hath promised his loving-kindness daily, therefore will I praise him in the night season, and make my prayer unto the God of my life.
42:9: I will say unto God my stony rock; Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I thus heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?
42:10: While my bones are broken, and while mine enemies cast me in the teeth, daily saying unto me: Where is now thy God?

43:1: Give sentence upon me (O God) and defend my cause against the unholy people: Oh deliver me from the deceitful, and wicked man.
43:2: For thou (O God) art my strength: why hast thou shot me from thee? Why go I then so heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?
43:3: Oh send out thy light and thy truth, that they may lead me and bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy dwelling.
43:4: That I may go in to the altar of God, even unto the God which is my joy and pleasure, and upon the harp to give thanks unto thee, O God, my God.
43:5: Why art thou so heavy (O my soul) and why art thou so disquieted within me? O put thy trust in God, for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his countenance, and because he is my God.

44:1: ((To the Chanter, an instruction of the sons of Korah)) We have heard with our ears, (O God) our fathers have told us, what thou hast done in their time of old.
44:2: How thou hast driven out the Heathen with thy hand, and planted them in: how thou hast destroyed the nations and cast them out.
44:3: For they gat not the land in possession thorow their own sword, neither was it their own arm that helped them. But thy right hand, thine arm and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
44:4: Thou art the King and my God, thou sendest help unto Jacob.
44:5: Thorow thee, will we overthrow our enemies: and in thy name will we tread them under, that rise up against us.
44:6: For I will not trust in my bow, it is not my sword that shall help me.
44:7: But it is thou that savest us from our enemies, and puttest them to confusion that hate us.
44:8: We will alway make our boast of God, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
44:9: But now thou forsakest us, and puttest us to confusion, and goest not forth with our Hosts.
44:10: Thou makest us to turn our backs upon our enemies, so that they which hate us, spoil our goods.

44:12: Thou sellest thy people for naught, and takest no money for them.
44:13: Thou makest us to be rebuked of our neighbours, to be laughed to scorn and had in derision, of them that are round about us.
44:14: Thou hast made_|makest| us, a very byword among the Heathen, and that the people shake their heads at us.
44:15: My confusion is daily before me, and the shame of my face covereth me.
44:16: For the voice of the slanderer_{|sclaunderer|} and blasphemer, for the enemy and avenger.
44:17: All this is come upon us, and yet have we not forgotten thee, nor behaved our selves unfaithfully in thy covenant.
44:18: Our heart is not turned back, neither our steps gone out of thy way.
44:19: For thou hast smitten us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death._{|That thou smytest us so in the place of the serpet, and coverest us with ye shadowe of death.|}
44:20: If we had forgotten the name of our God, and hold up our hands to any strange God.
44:21: Should not God find it out? for he knoweth the very secrets of the heart.
44:22: But for thy sake we are killed all the day long, and are counted as sheep appointed to be slain.

45:2: Thou art the fairest among the children of men, full of grace are thy lips, therefore God blesseth thee for ever.
45:3: Gird thee with thy sword upon thy thigh, (O thou mighty) with worship and renown.
45:4: Good luck have thou with thine honour, ride on with the truth, meekness and righteousness: and thy right hand shall teach thee wonderful things.
45:5: Thy arrows are sharp, the people shall be subdued unto thee, even in the middest among the king's enemies.
45:6: Thy seat (O God) endureth for ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter.
45:7: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity: wherefore God (which is thy God) hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
45:8: All thy garments are like myrrh, Aloes and Cassia, when thou comest out of thine ivory palaces in thy beautiful glory.
45:9: Kings' daughters go in thy goodly array, and upon thy right hand standeth the queen in a vesture of the most fine gold.
45:10: Hearken (O daughter) consider, and incline thine ear: forget thine own people, and thy father's house.
45:11: So shall the king have pleasure in thy beauty, for he is thy Lord,_|LORDE| and thou shalt worship him.
45:12: The daughters of Tyre shall be there with gifts, the rich among the people shall make their supplication before thee.
45:13: The king's daughter is all glorious within, her clothing is of wrought gold.
45:14: She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework, and maidens after her: such as be next her shall be brought unto thee.
45:15: With joy and gladness shall they be brought, and go into the king's palace.
45:16: In stead of thy fathers thou hast gotten children, whom thou shalt make princes in all lands.
45:17: I will remember thy name from one generation to another: therefore shall the people give thanks unto thee, world without end.

46:1: ((To the Chanter, a song of the children of Korah upon almuth.)) In our troubles and adversity, we have found, that God is our refuge, our strength and help.
46:2: Therefore will we not fear, though the earth fell, and though the hills were carried into the middest of the sea.
46:3: Though the waters of the sea raged and were never so troublous, and though the mountains shook at the tempest of the same. Selah.
46:4: For there is a flood, which with his rivers rejoiceth the city of God, the holy dwelling of the most highest.
46:5: God is in the middest of her, therefore shall she not be removed: for God helpeth her, and that right early.
46:6: The Heathen are mad, the kingdoms make much ado: but when he sheweth his voice, the earth melteth away.
46:7: The LORD of Hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our defense. Selah.
46:8: O come hither, and behold the works of the LORD, what destructions he hath brought upon the earth.
46:9: He hath made wars to cease in all the world: he hath broken the bow, he hath knapped the spear in sunder, and brent the chariots in the fire.
46:10: Be still then and confess that I am God: I will be exalted among the Heathen, I will be exalted upon earth.

47:1: ((To the Chanter, a Psalm of the children of Korah)) O clap your hands together (all ye people) O sing unto God with the voice of thanksgiving.
47:2: For the LORD the most highest_|hyest| is to be feared, and he is the great King upon all the earth.
47:3: He shall subdue the people under us, and the Heathen under our feet.
47:4: He chooseth us for an heritage, the beauty of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
47:5: God is gone up with a merry noise, and the LORD with the sound of the trumpet.
47:6: O Sing praises, sing praises unto God: O sing praises, sing praises unto our King.
47:7: For God is King of all the earth, O sing praises unto him with understanding.
47:8: God is king over the Heathen, God sitteth in his holy seat.

48:2: The hill of Sion is like a fair plant, whereof all the land rejoiceth: upon the north side lieth the city of the great King.
48:3: God is well known in her palaces, that he is the defense of the same.
48:4: For lo, kings are gathered, and gone by together.
48:5: They marveled, to see such things: they were astonied, and suddenly cast down.
48:6: Fear came there upon them, and sorrow as upon a woman in her travail.
48:7: Thou shalt break the ships of the sea, thorow the east wind.
48:8: Like as we have heard, so see we in the city of the LORD of Hosts, in the city of our God. God upholdeth the same forever. Selah.

48:11: Oh let the mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

48:13: Mark well her walls, set up her houses, that it may be told them that come after.

49:2: High and low, rich and poor, one with another.
49:3: My mouth shall speak of wisdom, and my heart shall muse of understanding.
49:4: I will incline mine ear to the parable, and shew my dark speech upon the harp.
49:5: Wherefore should I fear the evil days, when the wickedness of my heels compasseth me round about?
49:6: They that put their trust in their good, and boast_|boost| themselves in the multitude of their riches.
49:7: No man may deliver his brother, nor make agreement unto him for God._{|for him unto God|}
49:8: For it costeth more to redeem their souls, so that he must let that alone for ever.

49:20: When a man is in honour and hath no understanding, he is compared unto the brute beasts, and becometh like unto them.

50:2: Out of Sion appeareth the glorious beauty of God.

50:10: For all the beasts of the field are mine, and thousands of cattle upon the hills.
50:11: I know all the fowls upon the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are in my sight.
50:12: If I be hungry, I will not tell thee: for the whole world is mine, and all that therein is.
