is there a way to tile multiple open windows horizontally instead of vertically?

Yes, to tile Horizental in Davar3 Alpha2 click: Window -> Tile Horizental

When three windows are opened D3 tiles them fully horizental.
Though when it has more than three windows opened it tiles somewhat vertical/horizental. This may merit some discussion since the window viewable space can vary depending on screen resolution.
