2 Timothy chapter 3 gives plenty of clues that terrifyingly fit the meaning of that parlous old word, indicative of times fraught with danger. Nowadays we indeed live in dangerous waters, where the bold are venturesome and keen to the most mischievous levels; even to exhaustion.

According to the Dictionaries: Parlous seems to be an interesting old (even obselete) English word that meant dangerously cunning, or cleverly shrewd in it's workings.

Also wherefrom came the word "perilous" indicative of a condition greatly dangerous to a large extent.

PARLOUS: a dangerously sentencing time.

Matthew 8 also gives a great clue where that same Greek word is found, perhaps as a shadow even to something more "fierce" that God allows to come upon today's parlous world age.
