The Greek received text (Erasmus 1522) at Re 9:16 states δυο μυριαδες μυριαδων : twain myriades myriadon

William Tyndale's original English translates the Greek received text of Erasmus 1522 "δυο μυριαδες μυριαδων" (twain myriads myriads) as twenty times xM. Matthew's Bible and Coverdale's Bible editions (having most of William Tyndale's translation) kept the same.

In old English seems that twain ten is twenty and the lower case x and upper case M seem to hint at more than ten thousand in roman numerals, because it still is leaving room by the ghostly author assisting the Scribe and others for the future computing fluctuation of the times for the Greek's twain myriads myriads. Of course the horseman needs it's horse so it's no surprise that there's more to it than what's translated, when there should be no private interpretation of that innumerable reality of God.

In the 14th Century John Wycliffe translated it from the Latin thus:

16 And the noumbre of the oost of horse men was twenti thousynde sithis ten thousynde. Y herde the noumbre of hem.

Ironically in old English "sithis" was the same spelling for scythes perhaps alluding to the cutting of addition in multiplication; or in this case the many tens of thousands times a formation cut in the tens of thousands.

The Great Bible, Geneva Bible and King James Bible editions towards the 17th century also translated it as twenty thousand times ten thousand:

Revelation 9:16 And the nomber of horsemen of warre were twentie thousand times ten thousand: for I heard the nomber of them.

Most modern Bible translations also have something translated to the effect of 200,000,000.

Ironically the Greek Byzantine (4th century) only had μυριαδες μυριαδων : myriades myriadon
The critical Alexandrian manuscripts found in modern times states instead δισμυριαδες μυριαδων : dismyriades myriadon
Ironically δισ is also translated as billion and could hint at a great multitude of horsemen for today.

The spirit of the Bible is very clear:

2 Corinthians 3:6

which hath made us able to minister the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit: For the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

In that mindset, the spirit of verity could help us keep an open mind to comprehend that the writting was flexibly penned to reflect all times thereof according to the computation of the LORD who is sovereign throughout all time. Thus twenty times xM or 200,000 horsemen of war was provably what pertained to that graceful dispensation that first translated the Greek NT into English, and so why limit that backwards or forwards how that the very many number of the horsemen could fluctuate in the tens of thousands. Of course I stand corrected by the spirit of verity not to look so quickly at the letter since the New Testament was even written, that the twain myriads myriads could still mean very many tens of thousands in how it plays out in the Revelation of GOD who is outside time and already sees it all throughout the decades and centuries and mellinias. It's difficult for us to observe such numbers and how it could even apply to our time, though of course what is impossible with man, of course is possible with GOD to always compute for all times.

What would reflect tens of thousands within today's population, is a military formation that has another possible dimension to it, like 20 squadrons of 10,000 by 10,000 that nevertheless is a great provability. And the horsemen don't have to necessarily be just military according to the world's system, YEA rather it could be more according to the global military seeking the Kingdom of God and the righteousness thereof. It is the sovereign providence of God that amazingly calculates that indefinite fluctuating number, though computed even for this technological age, we could only come up with an estimate like this:

Twenty of ten thousands by ten thousands.
10,000 x 10,000 = 100,000,000
100,000,000 x 20 = 2,000,000,000
Ironically about a third part of today's world population.

Revelation 9:17-21

¹⁷And thus I saw the horses in a vision and them that sat on them, having fiery habergeons of a Jacinth colour, and brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions.
