A word could express things in a different light depending on how it's applied.

A great ensample is:
Revelation 1:1-2
1The revelation of Jesus Christe, which God gave unto him, for to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. And he sent and shewed by his angel unto his servant John,  2which bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

At Re 1:1 the original English translation of the Greek here translates "saymaheeno" as "shewed" to indicate a profound announcement to be known.

SHEW is an old English word that also means to "DENOTE" which the dictionaries say to be:

Yea a word could vary in meaning specially when it comes to translation from Hebrew, Greek and Latin. Take for ensample the word many times translated as "Gentiles" in the Bible. Sometimes "Gentile" even refers to somebody of the Israel "Nation" or the Israelites, that is: those people that are descendants of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. In other instances, the context will show that it is being used of a foreign nation or people of another faith.

Hence in the end what distinguishes a people or nation (even a word) is the faith that "arises" within it.
